toadにはいやな奴、frogには蔑称としてフランス人（カエルばかり食べていたと思われていたらしい。）という意味もあるとの事。salamanderは火の精・火熱に耐えるひとという意味もあるようだ。カエルってあんまりよく思われていないみたいですね…。
